Liza Schillo has been working or studying in the field of environmental sustainability since 2003. At Levi Strauss & Co. she oversees the company’s climate change strategy as well as its sustainable fiber strategy.
As climate change strategy manager, Liza ensures each annual target the company has set is achieved. She is currently in the process of reestablishing new, more rigorous targets for the company’s owned and operated facilities as well as their supply chain’s, to uphold LS&Co.’s commitment to a science-based target.
In 2015, Liza oversaw the certification of their second-largest warehouse to LEED Platinum, making it the largest retrofitted building of its kind to receive such recognition. Her fiber work involves implementation of their 100% sustainable cotton commitment, by driving supply chain adoption of industry-leading programs such as The Better Cotton Initiative.
In addition to her work in climate change and fiber, Liza is the liaison for sustainability to the finance and investor teams. In this capacity she has conducted a materiality assessment of key impacts to the business, and developed communications for the annual report.
Prior to LS&Co., Liza earned two Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Environmental Management at Fuqua and the Nicholas School of Duke University and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
